Social bricoleurs combine resources to address a social issue. At When Together, bricolage is a combination of activities on a social cohesion or values theme. Activities include creative exercises, structured conversation, contemplative and movement activities and a shared meal. The aim is to generate artefacts and/or actions to pilot in your communities and groups.

Currently we’re witnessing isolation, disconnection and loneliness which may contribute to polarisation of views leading to further isolation and reluctance to consider alternative views. In these kinds of conditions, alienation and conflict may arise. To get along with each other communication is essential.

The elements that are essential for peace and that can be generated or acted upon by individuals include: active listening, respect, trust, honesty and integrity, empathy, kindness, courage. These are social values that have not had the attention they deserve and yet are foundational for peace. They are also values that individuals may easily identify with and cultivate.

Learning objectives: integrate specific societal values that contribute to peace or social cohesion to create an artefact; present your ideas to others.

Mode: 1 x 1 day workshop, 10am-4pm. In-person or online.

Activities: whole and small group conversations, creative and contemplative activities, conversational lunch, create an artefact on a value (text, image, video, sound or any combination these), present to the group and invited guests about your idea or initiative.
